Learning about truffle growing and visiting a grove as a group

Updated on

A truffle grove discovery visit covers the trees associated with the fungus, the soil and searching with the dog. At Les Hermessaines, it can be requested all year round, by quotation and with a seasonal programme. Tuber melanosporum harvesting and hunting remain winter activities, generally from December to March. This discovery visit is not a certified professional training course.

What does truffle hunting show?

Truffle hunting combines the dog’s detection with extraction by its handler, as described by the Société Centrale Canine. During a truffle grove visit, ask the person accompanying the dog to explain the actions shown. The programme depends on the day’s conditions and does not guarantee a harvest.

Preparing a group visit

Visits are possible every day for up to 40 people in total, including adults and children, only with a quotation and a confirmed appointment. The visit is cancelled if it rains. Truffle hunting in the groves with the dogs costs €99 including VAT per person. A preferential offer for a group may be considered after you contact us, without a fixed discount scale or automatic discount. In your truffle grove visit enquiry, provide possible dates, the number of adults and children, your preferred topic and language or access needs. The quotation states the route, duration, what is included and the total price including VAT; the appointment is confirmed after agreement on that quotation.
