Truffles from Périgord, Drôme and Vaucluse: understanding origin

“Périgord truffle” is a common name for Tuber melanosporum, not proof of a Dordogne harvest. A truffle of this species can bear that name while originating elsewhere. Ask where the batch was harvested; the seller’s address answers a different question.
Truffles from Drôme and Vaucluse
The estate presents its oak groves in Drôme provençale. Markets and producers in neighbouring Vaucluse form part of a wider truffle-growing area. A truffle bought at a market may come from elsewhere: ask the seller to specify its origin, even at a well-known market.
What about the Massif d’Uchaux?
For a purchase described as “Uchaux massif”, ask where the batch was harvested and for traceability information. For a visit, check the meeting point, which may differ from the business address. Les Hermessaines’ visitor address is 637 route de Bigary in Suze-la-Rousse, near the plots of Solérieux.
